We will need the following personal details from you: full name, email address, residential address, Cape Town address (if not a Cape Town resident) and telephone number.
You will also need to supply a credit card at the point that the rental deposit is required.
In the event of the driver having not held a licence for two years or being under 23 years of age, a young driver’s surcharge of R200 will apply.
You can hire a car for a minimum of 3 days, from time of pick up to time of drop off.
There is one exception to this – during the high season months of December and January rental bookings must exceed fourteen days and during this period special rates apply.
A day hire rental period may be extended past the original return date for a period agreed to by both parties.
Long-term car rental periods may cover any period agreed to by both parties.
In the event that the car hire period is extended without prior consent from Kirstenhof Car Hire we will consider this a breach of Terms and Conditions and your vehicle will no longer be covered.
Deposits range from R5,000 to R8,000 depending on the type of car hired and the duration of the hiring period.
We accept cash deposits for contracts longer than fifteen days; however, there is a standard cash handling fee of R250 charged and all cash deposits must be paid up in full before the vehicle is released. You will still need to have a valid Credit/cheque card available.
All deposits are refunded on the good return of the vehicle.
Reduce R8000 excess to R5000 excess at R35 per day.
Damages to Tyres and Glass are not covered by insurance, waiver can be taken out at R25 per day.
We offer one additional driver on our car rental insurance at no extra charge to you. Every additional driver added to your insurance thereafter is charged at R250 each.
All additional drivers must supply a valid driver’s license.
Our vehicles may not be driven by anybody other than those stipulated on the contract.
All our vehicles can be driven within a 300km radius of Cape Town, depending on the type of vehicle you hire. Travel Fee for outside the prescribed 300km radius will be R700.
No vehicle may travel further than 750km from Cape Town.
A breach in the Terms and Conditions of the distance you may travel can result in a travel fine of up to R5000.
The drop off location is 8 Military Road Kirstenhof. Unfortunately, we do not have branches elsewhere.
Leaving or dropping the car at any other location without prior arrangement will result in a fee.
You can use Uber/Bolt etc for lifts from us to the airport or contact us to arrange a private transfer company.
On return of the vehicle you will be charged your excess plus an admin fee of R250?
If repairs are less than your excess you will be charged for the cost of repairs plus an admin fee R250.
Should you disobey traffic regulations which results in a fine, you will be charged an admin fee of R200.
Any speeding fines of 20km/h or more above the speed limit will be considered as reckless driving and a R1200 fee will be charged.

Please note that the only towing company authorised to tow our vehicles is Paladin Roadside Assistance (0860 199 191).
If another party is Involved:
1. You should also visit the local police station within 24 hours so that you can report the accident and obtain a case number. If you are injured and cannot report the incident within 24 hours, do so as soon as possible and explain why your report is delayed.
Note: It is an offense not to report an accident in which another person has been injured or in in which someone else’s property has been damaged. We suggest that you do not admit liability for the accident, even if you think that you may have caused it.
2. Take down the following information about the other driver:
• Full name and surname
• ID Number
• Contact number
• Email address
• Physical address
• Vehicle registration number
• Vehicle make, model and colour
3. Take note of as much of the following as possible:
• Your location, street name and suburb
• The time of the incident
• Road conditions
• Take note of what happened immediately before or after the accident
• Take photos, if possible
4. Take down the contact details of any officials at the incident e.g. police, paramedics
A breach in the Terms and Conditions of the distance you may travel can result in a t fee of up to R5000.
Travelling on gravel roads will incur a cost of R499 (which includes wheel alignment and balancing).
Should your driving result in a fine, we will charge an admin fee of R200.
Any speeding fines of 20km/h or more above the speed limit will be considered as reckless driving and a R1200 admin fee will be charged.
In the event of damage or loss of the vehicle a claim handling fee of R250 will be billed in addition to a delivery/collection charge.
Vehicles should be relatively clean on return. Depending on the state of the vehicle upon its return you may be charged for a light cleaning at R100 or a full valet at R1000.
Late rental returns are charged at R15 per hour.
Overdue payments are charged at R30 per day.
You may cancel your contract with us at any time; however, there is a small cancellation fee of 25% of the remaining contract.
A tyre and glass waiver of R25 per day can be taken out.
If you don’t like the car you’ve chosen or been assigned you may request a substitute within your price range. You may also request to upgrade.
In both cases we assess these situations on an individual basis before making a decision and/ or quoting. An admin fee of R40 (contract fee) will apply.
We can offer customers within a 10km radius from our premises a collection service at a charge of R200, during office hours only.
For any other collections, drop offs or airport shuttles we recommend Uber/Bolt or you can contact us for a private transfer company.
